Is That Thought Serving You — or Running You?

A few weeks ago, Sasha ate 1.6 pounds of dark chocolate.

Yes, really, one point six pounds. And not just any chocolate — dark baking chocolate, the most toxic kind for dogs.

We were moving back into the RV, and I had two $8 Costco-sized bags of baking chips. I only needed one. As I held the second bag, I heard the whisper:

“Throw it away.”

I moved towards the trash can and paused because another thought came:

“It’s bad to waste money.”

So instead of tossing it, I put it in a box headed to my mom’s. That box ended up on the floor. The next day, Sasha got into it.

When we got home, there was chocolate vomit and a nearly empty bag.

What followed?

Panic.

Induced vomiting. Poison control. Emergency care. A 24-hour vet watch.

$2,500.

Guilt, fear, and stress.

Sasha is okay — thank goodness she is strong— and it hit me:

That entire chain of events happened because I followed an old, unquestioned belief….one rooted in scarcity, not wisdom.

Byron Katie says, “The most dangerous thing is an unquestioned thought.”

And wow, did I live that.

That moment I paused at the trash can was about scarcity, not the chocolate.

Old programming that whispered: “Don’t be wasteful.”

And I listened — instead of trusting my higher self, which knew better.

FREEDOM UNLEASHED TAKEAWAY

Where in your life are you still operating on old programming?  And, what is it really costing you?

Bring awareness to thoughts like:

“Be grateful for what you have.”

   “It’s selfish to want more.”
   “Money doesn’t grow on trees.”

   “Don’t rock the boat.”

Or, “You have to work hard to be successful.”

Freedom often begins with one question:

Is this really true?

Freedom means letting go of what no longer serves you – even if it once felt valuable.  Like throwing away the bag of chocolate – without looking back.
